English Elm

Elms make stately trees and until the advent of Dutch Elm disease were a major feature of our countryside.
They are a typically English bonsai tree and so are a rarity.
As a bonsai they are usually grown as an  formal upright as they cannot be grown contrary to their natural habits.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                             Competitions

The Club runs competitions for members which are judged by members every month. 
These are the Tree of the Month. the Style of the Month and the Novice of the Month.

Tree of the Month. 
Each month a particular type of tree e.g. Juniper is chosen to be displayed by members and
points are awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Style of the Month 
Each month a style e.g. Cascade is chosen to be displayed by members and points are awarded 
for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

The points for these two competitions are added together and the winner receives a silver trophy
in the shape of our badge and a voucher to spend at Herons Bonsai.
The second placed will also receive a Herons Bonsai voucher.

Novice of the Month
This competition is open to any member who is still learning the art of Bonsai and beginners. 

Any tree may de displayed and the winner received a voucher to spend at Dai-ichi Bonsai.
